The plum rains from last issue have burned off into full summer heat. I'm writing this one from Hangzhou, midway through a hackathon.

AdventureX 2026
I'm at AdventureX 2026 in Hangzhou, July 22 to 26 — the theme is another leap of faith for a new generation of creators. By the time this issue goes out, the hackathon is still running. Home Page also traded its Reneur promotion section for an AdventureX one.
Chimeling's color system
Built a fine color system for my app. It handles foreground color alternations on background colors instead of leaving foreground colors unchanged, so every cursor action has corresponding feedback, including foreground colors.
Lightness changes are based on OKLCH, making them feel consistent for humans eyes.

Built a fine color system for Chimeling with Sass and oklch, as part of building it in public. Most color systems stop at normal and hover; this one covers normal, hover, active, and selected — for foreground colors as well as backgrounds, so every cursor action gets visible feedback. A follow-up post shows how it holds up on narrow screens, with an expand/collapse animation.
